I’m writing to request approval to attend TechMentor & Cybersecurity Live! at Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond, WA, August 9–13, 2027.

This event combines two highly relevant training programs: TechMentor for IT professionals and Cybersecurity Live! for security, ransomware, and risk-focused practitioners. The agenda is designed around the real-world challenges teams like ours are facing now: securing hybrid environments, managing identity and endpoints, improving Microsoft 365 and Azure operations, strengthening ransomware readiness, and responsibly adopting AI and Copilot technologies.

By attending, I would gain practical, expert-led training that I can bring back and apply directly to our environment. Key areas of value include:

• Microsoft identity, access, and Zero Trust: Sessions on Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, PKI, passwordless authentication, cross-tenant access, Global Secure Access, and Zero Trust connectivity would help us strengthen identity security and reduce risk across hybrid environments.
• Endpoint, device, and infrastructure management: Training on Intune, Windows 11, Windows Autopilot, Windows Admin Center, Azure Arc, Defender for Cloud, and hybrid infrastructure would provide actionable guidance for improving operations, standardization, and resilience.
• Cybersecurity and ransomware defense: Cybersecurity Live! focuses on incident response, ransomware-resistant infrastructure, Defender XDR, threat detection, data loss prevention, insider risk, unmanaged devices, and practical controls that can reduce exposure and improve response readiness.
• AI, Copilot, and automation: The agenda includes sessions on Microsoft Copilot, Security Copilot, Copilot Studio, autonomous agents, PowerShell 7, Microsoft Graph, and automation for IT and security teams. These topics are especially relevant as we evaluate how to use AI responsibly while protecting company data and improving productivity.
• Hands-on learning: Pre- and post-conference workshops and labs provide practical experience with enterprise PKI, Defender XDR, incident response, Active Directory in hybrid environments, Defender for Cloud, Azure Arc, Copilot Studio, and the Entra ID ecosystem. These sessions go beyond theory and focus on skills I can use immediately.
• Access to industry experts: The event features experienced Microsoft-focused IT, cloud, automation, and security experts. Attending at Microsoft Headquarters also provides a valuable opportunity to learn in an environment closely connected to the Microsoft ecosystem we rely on.

The return on this investment would include stronger technical skills, improved security awareness, practical recommendations for our current environment, and a clearer understanding of how emerging Microsoft technologies can support our business goals.

Upon returning, I can share key takeaways with the team, identify relevant best practices, and recommend specific improvements in areas such as identity security, endpoint management, ransomware readiness, Microsoft 365 governance, Azure operations, and AI/Copilot adoption.
