Creating Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servers are a cool thing to do, but are they actually useful in solving problems and driving learning & inspiration? If you search the interwebs, you will find a MCP Server overload of availability, but if you look deeper into them, you should start to question if they are really worth the time & effort to implement and use. In this session, we will take a look at some of the more obvious and less obvious servers that do & do not pass the smell tests. We'll also create our own server, using FastMCP, and interact with it.
You will learn:
- How MCP servers work & why you want to use them
- How to create your own MCP server using FastMCP
- Exploration of many MCP server examples you could use, or not use.
