TechMentor 2-Day Hands-on Training Seminar: AI-Powered PowerShell and Infrastructure Automation with Claude Code
December 10-11, 2026
9:00AM – 5:00PM Central
Level: Intermediate
Every IT organization is sitting on a quiet liability: years of inherited PowerShell. Scripts written by people who left three jobs ago. Scheduled tasks that "just work" until they don't. Automation with no tests, no documentation, no error handling, and no clear owner. It runs the business — and nobody fully understands it anymore.
AI coding assistants promise to fix this, but most demos miss the mark. Watching an AI spit out a twenty-line script is a parlor trick, not an engineering practice. This seminar is about something far more durable: using Claude Code as a terminal-native engineering partner to audit, modernize, and harden the real automation your environment already depends on.
Over two hands-on days, you'll work through the full lifecycle of taming inherited automation. You'll point out Claude Code in a tangled script library, list its inventory, document it, and explain what's actually there. You'll refactor brittle one-off scripts into clean, reusable modules, generate Pester tests to lock in behavior, and systematically improve error handling, logging, and operational reliability — the unglamorous work that separates a hobby script from production-grade infrastructure code.
Because this is enterprise automation, safety is treated as a first-class topic rather than an afterthought. You'll learn how to keep AI assistance inside the guardrails your organization requires: scoping permissions, protecting secrets, respecting change control, and designing approval-based runbooks that keep a human in the loop before anything touches production. We'll apply these patterns to real-world scenarios across Microsoft Graph, Intune, Active Directory, and broader infrastructure automation.
You'll leave with more than a folder of generated scripts. You'll leave with a repeatable methodology and a set of working patterns you can take straight back to your own environment — a practical way to turn years of fragile, undocumented automation into something maintainable, tested, and trustworthy. And yes, we'll have some fun along the way, including using PowerShell to stand up surprisingly slick front-end apps.
What You Will Learn:
- How to use Claude Code to audit, inventory, and document inherited PowerShell script libraries quickly
- How to refactor fragile scripts into maintainable modules and lock in behavior with Pester tests
- How to harden automation with stronger error handling, logging, and operational reliability
- How to design safe, approval-based AI-assisted runbooks with guardrails for permissions, secrets, and change control
- How to apply these workflows to real Microsoft Graph, Intune, and Active Directory automation scenarios
Prerequisites:
- Attendees should be comfortable writing and running PowerShell scripts.
- Familiarity with the Windows command line and basic automation concepts is recommended.
- No prior experience with Claude Code, AI coding assistants, or AI-assisted development is required.
Attendee Workstation Requirements:
You must provide your own computer (Windows or Mac) for this seminar with a camera, Internet connection, speakers, and a microphone.
Participants should have a basic understanding of Windows administration, familiarity with command-line interfaces, and bring a laptop with PowerShell 5.1 or 7.x installed.
