Two-Day Hands-On Workshop: Azure Infrastructure and Operations
January 21 & 22, 2020
9:00AM – 5:00PM
Level: Introductory to Intermediate

Azure has become a popular destination for organizations to run their workloads and technology solutions. This two-day immersive workshop, consisting of instruction and hands-on experiences, helped equip attendees to lead their organization into the cloud and Azure.

Over the two days, attendees learned:

  • about the fundamentals of Azure
  • about the core infrastructure services that makeup the foundations of Azure, including networking, storage and compute
  • how identity works in Azure with Azure Active Directory, how they can integrate their on-premises Windows Server AD with Azure AD, and how they can setup granular access controls using RBAC, Conditional Access and Privileged Identity Management
  • how to monitor the health and governance of their infrastructure in Azure using services like Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, Azure Blueprints and Azure Cost Management
  • how to increase security and reduce threats across their Azure environments using firewalls, micro-segmentation capabilities, DDoS protection, web application firewalls and monitoring tools like Azure Security Center and Azure's cloud-native SIEM, Azure Sentinel
  • how to protect their workloads against disaster using backup and disaster recovery solutions in Azure
  • how to assess their workloads for migration and how to lift-and-shift your workloads to Azure
  • and more

Over the two days, attendees got hands-on with Azure and participated in an architecture design session to design a solution in Azure. In addition to the deep dive of Azure infrastructure, attendees learned about concepts like platform as a service (PaaS), serverless and containers, and learned how to modernize your infrastructure deployments with DevOps concepts like infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and build and release management processes.

If you are involved in network, infrastructure or security operations, are an architect, or developer interested in infrastructure and operations, this hands-on workshop was for you.
