Bring Your Own Laptop for Hands-On Labs / Ride-Along Sessions 

TechMentor Redmond is offering seven Hands-On Labs / Ride-Along Sessions. If you plan on attending one of the HOL / RA sessions with your personal laptop, please note the following laptop requirements for each individual session before joining us in Redmond.

M02 Fundamentals of PowerShell Automation (BYOL - RA)

This will be a ride-along style session so bring a laptop with PowerShell 4 installed. Ideally, a virtualized domain environment with at least one server and one client running PowerShell 3.0 or later Demos will be shared with students at the beginning of the session.

M01 - Windows Troubleshooting Deep Dive: BSODs, Server Hangs, and Performance Issues (BYOL-HOL)

Bring-Your-Own-Laptop running Windows 7 or later to gain hands-on experience with labs.  You'll need at least 2GB of free disk space to install tools and stage lab materials, a wireless network adapter for connecting to the internet, and a USB port for flash drive lab material.  Power strips will be provided.

W02 - Managing SharePoint Databases in SQL Server - (BYOL-HOL)

This is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) Hands-On Lab (HOL) class. The instructor will provide a hands-on experience during the class, which you will accomplish on your laptop. Power will be available in the room. Your laptop should have an active Azure Subscriber or Trial Subscription (available here http://azure.microsoft.com) or a local Server 2012 R2 virtual machine. Your laptop operating system should have Windows Management Framework 4 or a preview version of Windows Management Framework 5. Finally, you will need the Chef Development Kit (0.6.0 or newer - available from https://downloads.chef.io/chef-dk/) and a programmer's text editor (Notepad++, Sublime Text, Atom, or Visual Studio Code are good options) installed. You will find it beneficial to have a git client (https://msysgit.github.io/ or https://windows.github.com/) installed on your laptop as well, but it is not required.

W07 - Notes from the Field: Benchmarking User Experience in Virtual Desktops - (BYOL-HOL)

This is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) Hands-On Lab (HOL) class. The instructor will provide a hands-on experience during the class, which you will accomplish on your laptop. Power will be available in the room. Your laptop operating system should be Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2. The laptop should have AutoIt 3.3 (available from https://www.autoitscript.com) and Microsoft Office 2013 installed. Finally, you will need the Azure RemoteApp client (available from https://www.remoteapp.windowsazure.com installed. You will find it beneficial to have the (Client) Hyper-V role activated and a Windows 8.1 VM configured for RDP connectivity on an internal virtual network, but it is not required

This is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) Hands-On Lab (HOL) class. The instructor will provide hands-on experiences during class, which you will accomplish on your laptop. Power will be available in the room. Software used during the class can be installed on your laptop, or optionally any other compatible system (local VM or cloud) you wish to use. For this reason, it is suggested to have a local hypervisor, or a cloud account configured prior to the class start date.
