Understand how to configure a server to capture a memory dump and then leverage the Windows Debugger to analyze it. Learn the best Debugger commands and techniques to identify what driver or hardware component caused the failure. Learn how to force a memory dump on a frozen server to determine what resource, spinlock or other kernel software caused the hang. Impress your boss and avoid costly support incidents by analyzing your own BSODs and system hangs with confidence.


You will learn:
  • Understand how to configure your servers to capture a memory dump
  • Leverage the Windows debugger to analyze a memory dump to decode the failing component
  • Learn how to force a memory dump on a hung server to determine why it locked up

HANDS-ON LAB REQUIREMENTS: A Windows 7 or Windows 8 laptop (or VM) with at least 2GB of free disk space and WiFi connectivity. A DVD drive is recommended; a limited number of USB drives will be available with class materials. Please register for this class in advance so that we can have an accurate head count for materials.
