Automating Azure: From Command Line to DevOps for IT Pros

The Azure Portal is a great management tool for your Azure resources. People like clean, modern-looking, and easy-to-use graphical interfaces. However, when you start working on more complex Azure solutions, you will quickly realize that GUI wizards don't scale.

Automation is a key for successful deployment of Azure infrastructure solutions in a consistent and optimal manner. It saves time and increases the reliability of regular administrative tasks and deployment of your infrastructure resources. In this 2-day hands-on-labs, you learn how to move from the imperative scripting at the command line with Azure PowerShell and Azure CLI to the deployments using declarative Azure ARM Templates (including Bicep) and Terraform to fully-automated deployments with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. This hands-on-labs is perfect for people beginning their journey to automate Azure infrastructure and people who want to improve their scripting skills and start implementing DevOps practices.

This is a seminar with plenty of demos and hands-on labs to help you understand and master the topics that we are discussing.

This hands-on seminar will cover:

How to automate deployment and management of infrastructure resources
How to choose the right Azure infrastructure deployment model
How to fully automate deployments using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions

Attendee Workstation Requirements:
You must provide your own computer (Windows or Mac) for this hands-on lab workshop with a camera, Internet connection, speakers, and a microphone. Your computer should be running Windows 10 and have Visual Studio Code with the PowerShell extension installed. It is also recommended that you have Windows Terminal installed and a GitHub account.

Aleksandar Nikolic is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Cloud and Datacenter Management and Microsoft Azure, a co-founder of PowerShellMagazine.com, and the community manager of PowerShell.com. Aleksandar is experienced presenting and speaking to Microsoft customers, and is skilled with describing complex management and automation tasks. Aleksandar has more than 18 years of experience as a system administrator. He also delivers PowerShell and Azure training courses around the world (USA, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Croatia...) and is a frequent speaker at various IT conferences (Microsoft Ignite, Microsoft TechDays, PowerShell Conference Europe, MMS, NIC...). The highlight of his teaching career so far is a PowerShell training he has delivered to Microsoft employees at Microsoft HQ in Redmond, USA.
