It's time to master Windows PowerShell. Actually, you're about seven years and four versions behind the curve, so you'll need one of the world's best instructors if you want to catch up. We suggest Concentrated Technology's Don Jones, MVP award recipient and co-author of a half-dozen books on Windows PowerShell, including Learn Windows PowerShell 3 in a Month of Lunches.

In this class, you'll go from "zero to hero," learning all of the unique PowerShell tricks that are impossible to learn on your own. You'll master the object-oriented pipeline, learn PowerShell's syntax rules, and discover how to get the shell to teach you how to use itself! This is a demonstration-heavy class that moves quickly and covers about three days of training in just six hours. You'll explore every core feature of Windows PowerShell, and you'll be ready to tackle the more advanced and practical PowerShell sessions presented during the main TechMentor conference. You'll also get a peek of more-advanced features of Windows PowerShell v3 and v4, although most of this class is applicable to v2 and later running on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 and later.

You will learn:

  • The shell stuff you can't teach yourself
  • Rapidly master core shell concepts and techniques
  • Become "immediately effective" as a shell tool user

This is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) Hands-On Lab (HOL) class. The instructor will provide hands-on experiences during class, which you will accomplish on your laptop. Power will be available in the room. Your laptop should have Windows Management Framework v3.0 or later installed (available on Windows 7 and later).
