Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is an emerging desktop computing model where a Windows client operating system runs in server-based virtual machines (VMs) in a data center and interacts with the user's client device such as a PC or a thin client via Remote Desktop Services (RDS). Application Virtualization (App-V) is an application deployment vehicle with application streaming, which eliminates the need to have applications locally installed. By combining App-V and VDI, an authorized user can now access a (personal or shared) desktop with authorized applications on demand from almost any device. This workshop presents a technical introduction of what it is and a hands-on opportunity to learn how it works. An experienced Windows infrastructure specialist will gain the technical insights and operational experience to build a test lab by attending this session.

You will learn:

  • Know RDS/VDI/App-V technologies and the integrations among them
  • Be able to build a test lab with RDS/VDI/App-V
