Nowadays, many organizations use line-of-business (LOB) applications with browser-based front ends to increase productivity. Systems administrators sometimes need to turn to protocol analysis in order to visualize client/server network traffic and resolve client connectivity problems. In this session, you'll become intimately familiar with Wireshark, the free, open-source protocol analyzer. Because capture and display filters have a sometimes-confusing syntax, you'll spend lots of time crafting and using filters to solve the most common network access issues.

You will learn:

  • How to install and use Wireshark on any operating system
  • How to build capture and display filters in order to study specific network traffic types
  • How to analyze network traffic patterns, make accurate diagnoses, and solve client connectivity problems with least administrative effort
